I founded Truly Eye Care with one simple goal, to create a place where you feel comfortable, cared for, and never rushed. With over 10 years of experience in the field, I believe it’s important to take the time to truly understand your vision needs and focus on treating the cause of any concerns, not just the symptoms. Whether you’re coming in for your routine exam or managing a more complex vision need, my priority is to help you achieve your best possible vision with personalized care every step of the way.

My Story

A native of South Florida, Dr. Jennifer Gonzalez earned her Bachelor’s in Biology from F.I.U. as an Honors College student and went on to earn her doctorate at Nova Southeastern University.

Her diverse experience, education, and training has allowed her to develop a vast knowledge base. She began her career as a research and development scientist and later decided to pursue her childhood passion for eyecare. Having watched her grandfather battle glaucoma, and being treated herself for an eye turn (strabismus) as a child she developed a keen interest in eye care. While at NSU she gained experience in management of ocular disease at Aran Eye Associates in Miami, FL, as well as The Wilmington VA Medical center in Wilmington, DE.

Following graduation she began to practice in New York under the tutelage of an Oculoplastic specialist who also taught ophthalmology residents at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. It was there where she became passionate about sharing her knowledge with students and now serves as adjunct clinical professor with SUNY, Salus, and NSU’s colleges of Optometry.

​She has also served as clinical director at Magruder Laser Vision where she honed her skills in pre and post operative LASIK and Cataract Surgery care.

She also continued her post graduate education earning a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry specializing in cornea, contact lenses, and refractive surgery. Although she enjoys being a published author and lecturer, seeing patients and teaching students are by far what bring her the greatest joy in her career. It was this that led her to open her practice, Truly Eye Care in Windermere, FL.
